#1 - PROPERTY  RIGHTS

Hello Voters,
I am Dodie Allen, and I approve this message because this is what I believe, and how I intend to serve you in the North Carolina General Assembly for the next two years.  I intend to vigorously fight to protect your private property rights, an important tenet of individual freedoms, during my tenure in the North  Carolina House of Representatives. Property rights issues include every piece of legislation, mandate or resolution, voted on in Raleigh that can affect your property and lifestyle in Western North Carolina. Not only are land transfer taxes, annexation and eminent domain issues in play, but so are general private property rights, slope mandates and  governance of state amenities, including lakes, parks, recreational plans, air and water quality, uses of public property and on and on.   My support for private property rights illustrates, exemplifies and epitomizes that there is a big difference between me and incumbent Phil Haire.  I am asking you to retire Phil Haire by electing, me Dodie Allen.

#2 - TAXES

Hello Voters,
I am Dodie Allen, speaking with you personally to air another conversation about  issues vital to you. This is what I believe and how I intend to serve you in the North Carolina General Assembly.  I intend to fight vigorously not only to control, but to eliminate taxes and spending.  In 2008, the Democrat majority increased spending 13.5%; the state budget from $10 billion to over $21 billion; and pork-barrel spending topped $1.1 billion.  We must get out of the tax and spend dilemma we are in. We are among the most heavily taxed and money squandering states in the U.S.  As your taxes escalate, your individual freedoms are reduced simultaneously, somewhere... somehow.   My election, as your representative, will help bring a conservative majority to the General Assembly that will check runaway spending and automatically reduce taxes.  There is nothing in your life that is free from alarming taxation, from morning 'til night, from birth until death.  Historically, no nation has survived the level of taxation that is burdening citizens today and leading us to a socialistic economy.  My support for education of taxes and spending illustrates, exemplifies and epitomizes that there is a big difference between me and incumbent Phil Haire.  I am asking you to retire Phil Haire by electing me, Dodie Allen.

#3 - CREATING  JOBS

Hello Voters,
I am Dodie Allen, speaking with you personally about issues vital to you. This is what I believe and how I intend to serve you in the North Carolina General Assembly.  I intend to fight vigorously, and to vote for maintaining North Carolina's Right-to-Work laws. These laws protect jobs, increase the opportunity to work and maintain our state sovereignty, without obligations to unions or federal mandates. But of course, there are many other ways to create jobs and one is to support, not strangle,  small businesses.  As a small business owner, I know the pitfalls that can befall a business when government gets in the way, and taxes stifle hiring, creativity and expansion.  We can foster and create a climate in North Carolina that will create more jobs and boost the economy in Western North Carolina.  I can assure you, it is not more taxation, ordinances and laws that foster successful businesses and more jobs. My support for small business and right-to-work laws illustrates, exemplifies and epitomizes that there is a big difference between me and incumbent Phil Haire.  I am asking you to retire Phil Haire by electing me, Dodie Allen.

#4 - LAW  ENFORCEMENT

Hello Voters,
I am Dodie Allen, speaking with you personally about issues vital to you. This is what I believe and how I intend to serve you in the North Carolina General Assembly.  I intend to support tough treatment for criminals and to uphold the laws on our books.   Coddling criminals, whether youth, illegal immigrants or repeat offenders, ties the hands of law enforcement. Access to an individual's criminal record is essential to sustaining the awareness needed to protect our citizens.  Being aware is the first line of defense in the challenges to our state and citizens' safety  We must emphasize the importance of our judicial system and elect conservative judges to adhere to existing laws and mete out sentences commensurate with the crime.  We must address the culture of corruption pervading the activities of our state officials.  In my tenure, I will see that you, my constituents, have access to this information…  my promise to let the sun shine in through oversight and com-munication.  My support for law enforcement illustrates, exemplifies and epitomizes that there is a big difference between me and incumbent Phil Haire.  I am asking you to retire Phil Haire by electing me, Dodie Allen.

#5 - COMMUNICATION

Hello Voters,
I am Dodie Allen, speaking with you personally about issues vital to you. This is what I believe and how I intend to serve you in the North Carolina General Assembly.  I intend to maintain a strong line of communication between me and you, my constituents.  Communication is the backbone of any relationship and assures the success for both parties, to solve our pressing issues of taxes, private property rights and gaining state support and recognition for Western North Carolina.  My intent is to be continually in contact with you about your interests, not special interests.  Communication is imperative to accomplish goals and to determine the method for reaching those goals. For example...  By what method do we meet the education challenges facing our parents and students? One method is to provide greater choices for families.  And...  What method do we employ to meet the challenges of health care? Your thoughts and ideas will formulate my message and activity in Raleigh to solve our pressing issues of taxes, private property rights and gaining state support and recognition for Western North Carolina. Effective government begins with communication, understanding and then action.  My support for communication illustrates, exemplifies and epitomizes that there is a big difference between me and incumbent Phil Haire.
